Our Impact - Because of Your Support and Advocacy

Since 1966, BBBSRI has grown to serve thousands of youth in Rhode Island by connecting them with positive adult role models that help ignite their full potential.  In late 2021, our move to Rising Sun Mills in the heart of Olneyville in Providence gave us a chance to continue our impact by being closer to the areas where are a large part of young people we serve reside.  In 2024 we served more than 250 youth through mentorship and served more than 2500 Rhode Islanders with wrap-around services such as case management, emergency assistance, career exploration, and enrichment activities.

2024 BBBSRI Mentoring Impact:

  • 100% of Mentors felt they’ve been positively impacted through the program.
  • 100% of Mentees moved on to the next grade.
  • 91% of parents shared their child has shown improved mental health.
  • 97% of parents reported their child avoided the juvenile justice system.
  • 86% of parents shared their child showed increased self-confidence

National Mentoring Impact Data:

Evidence-Based National Research Conducted by Harvard University & U.S. Department of Treasury report:

  • Participants in BBBS programs experienced a 15% boost in earnings between the ages of 20 and 25, reducing the socioeconomic gap by two-thirds.
  • Mentored youth are 20% more likely to attend college compared to non-mentored peers.
  • Every dollar invested in BBBS mentoring pays for itself within just seven years, creating sustained economic benefits.
